Gaia Reiki focuses their attention on supporting the Lowland Gorillas living under human guardianship in hopes of improving their overall emotional and physical well-being.
Reiki energy is a universal life energy that can be offered to all living beings and has become widely accepted as a form of treatment in both humans and animals. Reiki energy has no contraindications and can be used in conjunction with all other treatment.
Reiki benefits are unlimited but the effects can notably:
-ease discomfort from injury, illness or surgery
-address uncharacteristic behavior
-calm anxiety during transport
-assist with processing emotional distress or grieving
-shift nervous energy to a more calm energy
-replace shame of confinement with pride of representation
Monthly membership: $600
Membership includes weekly Reiki sessions for all gorillas residing at the facility.
Price does not fluctuate with the addition or loss of members.
All sessions are performed remotely.

It is never forced or in conflict with any other treatment. It is at the discretion of the recipient to receive the energy being offered.

Reiki is becoming widely used in hospitals, hospices and as a complimentary service to chemotherapy.
Since energy has no physical restrictions, distant Reiki is often a preferred method to connect with animals. The physical presence of a new person can sometimes be a distraction. Working remotely with animals allows all the benefits of the Reiki energy without the disruption of the new person to their surroundings.

A college assignment 30 years ago planted the seed of a lifelong passion that is now Gaia Reiki.
While spending the day documenting primate behavior at a local zoo, I found myself in awe of these exceptional creatures. They were inquisitive. They became bored. They amused themselves. They were ingenious. They were thoughtful to one anothe
A college assignment 30 years ago planted the seed of a lifelong passion that is now Gaia Reiki.
While spending the day documenting primate behavior at a local zoo, I found myself in awe of these exceptional creatures. They were inquisitive. They became bored. They amused themselves. They were ingenious. They were thoughtful to one another. And they appeared humiliated when teased by visitors.
After a long day of documenting their behavior, I sat on the floor against their enclosure to say goodbye. Much more emotional than I expected to be, I felt heartache at the thought of leaving them. Rather than get up to leave, I held my breath as the Silverback approached from across the enclosure. He sat down against the glass, pressed his body to mine and hung his head.
We had watched each other for hours. We had bonded. There was a knowingness. A sense of trust. I cared for him. I believe he cared for me.
We sat shoulder to shoulder, human to gorilla. We shared love, sadness and most profoundly, empathy for each other's emotional state. We experienced interspecies communication without words or touch. I believed then, as I do now, he came to comfort me. I believe he felt my love and respect for him. I believe he was offering me love and respect back.
My goal is to encourage the most positive experience possible for the gorillas and those who have the privilege of caring for them. I believe raising awareness to the public that Reiki is offered to the gorillas is a huge step forward in animal wellness. We can house these animals to learn from them and while doing so we can also deeply respect and honor them to the very best of our abilities.
A portion of all proceeds will be donated to the conservation efforts of the Mountain & Western Lowland Gorillas.
